Trying something new

Hello friends.

Life is incredible, isn’t it?
There are so many fun crazy outlets for expression and I love the Internet for that.

I’d like to say I enjoy blogging but… honestly, right now I am finding it more of a chore. I focus my time on novel writing and reading and while I love sharing my thoughts with you guys, it takes soo long for me to feel like I’m getting the point across. (Sorry it’s the perfectionist in me)

So I’ve taken to expressing my bookish thoughts on Instagram and Youtube. I’ll continue to post about my writing here and once a month I’ll post a list of books I’ve reviewed and little bits and bobs.

Thank you for understanding and I hope you will stick with me as I find my niche.

Unforseen Circumstances

I’m sorry all, there have been quite a few  personal issues that have kept me from blogging. Things are finally looking up and I appreciate your support during this time.
We will be back to our regular scheduled posts this week so until then enjoy this wonderful quote by Josh Whedon,
“I write to give myself strength. I write to be the characters that I am not. I write to explore all the things I am afraid of.”

Thanks and until next time,
Stay classy.

The Siren

Hello everyone and welcome back! Today I am excited to tell you that I was able to get my hands on The Siren the day it came out. That means early review for you. Normally, it takes me a while to get to a new release on my list because there are so many awesome books coming out all the time, but after reading some of Kiera Cass’s other books (namely The Selection Series, more on that later) I knew this one would be just as good.

So I moved it up of my ‘to be read’ list.

Kahlen has decided that a life of solitude is the best way to live after the Ocean rescued her from drowning many years ago. She does her work, comes home and lives quietly. That is until she meets Akinli. Then her whole world and everything her eighty years has taught her is dissolved in the Ocean she hates to love.

If you like oceans, romance, and sisterly love then this is the book for you. Kiera is such a descriptive writer and the way she portrayed the ocean made me long for more. I read this book in a day and couldn’t help but let the tears fall more than once in this book. Please put this on your list!

You can find it here on Amazon and more about Kiera Cass here on her website.

Until next time, May the Force be with you.

Awaken and a Giveaway

YAY! My first review of the new year and…

Guys, Let me tell you, if you haven’t discovered Christy Sloat yet, you need to right now. I mean it. Go look her up (here), buy her books and join her Facebook page! She is awesome! Not only does she write fantastic books, but she holds giveaways and really interacts with her readers.

Slumber and Awaken.jpg

So today I have the pleasure of reviewing her newest book Awaken, book two in the Slumber Duology.

Once upon a time I found myself locked away in Spindle Ridge Asylum, punished for a murder I didn’t commit. It was all part of Maleficent’s evil plan. I didn’t remember who I was then … now I do. My name is Aurora, and I am the rightful queen of this realm. Armed with my memories, I’m ready to take charge of my kingdom once more. Happily ever after evades me, yet I long to claim it with my true love, Sawyer, beside me. That fairy tale ending seems impossible with him locked in the thralls of a sleeping curse. As much as I’d love to sit by his bedside and eagerly await a cure, I must first travel into the terrifying Dark Woods to stop Raven from stripping me of all that is rightfully mine. I am not only a queen, but a warrior who will fight for her kingdom. Some may die. Blood will be shed. But when this ending comes, I will settle for nothing less than a blissful ever after.

-Awaken by Christy Sloat

When I reviewed her first book Slumber I said I didn’t like retellings but that I was blown away by Slumber. If there is one thing I dislike more than retellings is when authors try to draw it out into multiple books.

OK, I was wrong… Awaken is fantastic and really just completed Slumber. Not only was the plot really action driven, which I love, but Christy writes fluidly and leaves me wanting more. Rory is such a likable creative character that every one can relate to but she is surrounded with characters that really amplify her strengths (and weaknesses). I cannot say how much I loved this duology, but I can say that it has earned a special spot on my shelf! Five stars! Ten stars! (here just take my pack of stars)

I told you Christy is awesome right? She has kindly donated 3 Ebook copies of Slumber, JUST FOR YOU!!! All you have to do is leave me a comment below or enter the rafflecopter.  I cant wait to see who wins. May the odds be ever in your favor.

Thank you so much Christy!!

You can buy Awaken and Slumber on Amazon here along with Christy’s other books.

That’s all for today. See you next time.
